Will Matthysen is a designer and maker of handcrafted custom clocks and furniture. His work is represented in collections throughout Australia and the world. Described as tomorrow’s antiques, his clocks are made to achieve heirloom longevity.
Goal: The goal of this project was to strategically plan and deliver a digital transformation for Will Matthysen Clocks. WebSolutionZ has worked with Will since 2007 so we have extensive background knowledge of his goals and requirements.
Requirements: Will requested a "complete revamp" to modernise and refresh his digital presence, and we wanted to really highlight the fabulous work he has created over the years. While it was important to maintain existing SEO which WebSolutionZ had put considerable effort into over the years, Will found the previous website platform challenging to operate so he was keen to have a more modern looking website where he could self-manage content updates.
Recommendation: Based on these requirements, we recommended a rebuild in a SaaS platform, as these generally require minimal management and overheads but are very easy to use.
Outcomes: The new website maintained the homepage animated slideshow but all images were reloaded to ensure they were as high-resolution as possible. We focussed on building a bold and streamlined portfolio of Will's work that was easy for him to add to in the future. The site structure includes a simple primary navigation, "The Clock Gallery", an FAQ and other content from his previous website. We also employed AI to generate a more content-optimised website, as the previous iteration of the website was created in a time when content was less of a SEO focus.
